Governors

Our history

Our two schools became formally federated in January 2017.

The federation have one governing body, who meet regularly to discuss the strategic leadership of both schools.

Governors act as critical friends and hold the Headteacher to account for the decisions for the running of the school.

Our ethos is captured perfectly by 1 Corinthians 16:14 – “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Minutes of governing body meetings and further documents about governance can be accessed below.

Governor Staff Wellbeing Engagement

On 11th December 2023, Governors met with groups of staff (ECTs, Teachers and Support Staff) from St John's to discuss staff wellbeing and how any improvements could be made.

The discussions were productive and there was a lot of positive feedback, particularly for the Head of School's support and leadership for the whole team. There were a few things to follow up, as expected, however these will be addressed:

Please see a summary of the key points raised below:

  • Staff felt supported by leaders in managing behaviour
  • Teaching Assistants felt respected for their professional opinion about the children they work with
  • Staff generally felt that they would recommend the school to a friend
  • ICT resources and furniture were felt to be of good quality, with laptops being replaced as they became slow.

There were reflections and actions from the meeting, please see a summary of these below:

  • Overall, staff seem happy at the school and are well supported by peers and leaders
  • Wellbeing is considered and interventions are appreciated, there is a feeling of an imbalance between teachers and support staff which SLT will look into
  • Staff felt the school would benefit from a more coordinated timeline for deadlines, which includes subject leader deadlines.

Governors will reflect these sessions at St Chrysostom's over the coming weeks.
