Our Curriculum

         For any information regarding the Year 6 curriculum, please visit the curriculum tab of our website. This will show you all our sequences of learning for every subject, including reading, writing and maths,  from EYFS to Year 6.

At the bottom of this page you will also find our long term plan, which shows the foundation subjects we cover in Year 2. 

Reading

All of the children in Year 2 will attend daily phonics lessons using the Read Write Inc. phonics programme. When the children have completed the Read Write Inc. program they will move onto daily reading lessons. Your child will be issued with a new reading book every Tuesday and Friday. Children are expected to read their book at home every day.
 Please ensure that your child has their reading book and reading record in their book bag every day.

We enjoy reading our favourite stories in Year 2.

We are lucky to have a half-termly delivery of borrowed books from the Salford Library Service linked to our class novel. We will be reading a range of fiction and non-fiction books linked to every topic each half term. 

Maths

This term we will be focusing on addition and subtraction so that we can continue to improve our arithmetic skills. The children will also look at Multiplication and Division, Measurement and Statistics. We will also continue to focus on our 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables.

End of Year Expectations

Learn about the skills and knowledge that we hope your child will develop in literacy and maths by the end of this year. If they achieve these goals, they will be 'working at age-related expectations'. Click the image below to access this information.

Homework

Homework will be uploaded on to Seesaw on Friday and should be completed the following Wednesday.

It's Good to be Green!

It is important to follow the school rules and it is 'good to be green'. Every child begins each day in 'green' and we encourage children to stay 'green' all day.
