Teaching and Learning

A varied curriculum is in place to develop children’s competence and confidence so that they can succeed and excel in competitive sport and in other physical activities throughout their lives. Little Sports coaching provide engaging, high quality, specifically designed PE lessons to all pupils in KS1 and KS2. Lessons are led by experienced sport coaches whose passion for sport and fitness motivates and inspires the children daily.

Assessment

To ensure children make good progress they are assessed at the end of a unit of sport every half term. The children’s skills and performance is measured using the PE progressions of skills document and qualified sport coaches complete an assessment for each class which they then share with the class teacher. Children are encouraged to evaluate their own learning in a lesson and are given opportunities to improve the quality and control of their performance to progress further.

Extra-Curricular Sport

We aim to provide a wide range of opportunities for children to be active, keep fit and enjoy playing sport in our after school sport clubs. All clubs are offered to pupils free of charge and are led by our dedicated staff and experienced sport coaches. Competitive Sports

We aim to provide children with the opportunities to compete in a variety of sports so that they can become strong and confident competitors. We are lucky to have links with the Manchester United Foundation and the Manchester City Academy and children regularly compete in football tournaments throughout the year.
