Mr W Omara
I am Walid Omara, a father of 4 children in different education levels, with different needs. With more than 20 years’ experience in education and research, I’ll be very pleased to support the governing body using my skills, knowledge and experience.
My vision is support as well as challenge the schools to play their full part serving community and the children. Our children deserve a high quality safe engaging environment, to achieve their full potential; develop their talents and leave with fun memories. These goals will be achieved through not only holding our schools to account for the educational performance but also ensuring that money is well spent.
I have been a governor for several years volunteering in different schools including primary, secondary, and special needs as well. I have been engaged and chaired several committees including Personal, Leadership, Management, Pupil, Curriculum and Finance. I have been appointed to be a safeguarding, SEN, Science-linked, data analysis governor where I am responsible to collect data/information and feedback to the governing body. I have also been engaged in several panels including disciplinary, exclusion and head teacher selection. I have supported my schools during Ofsted inspection which included one-day and two-day visits in different schools. I am also a member of the executive committee of Manchester Governor Association which is running – in partnership with MSA and LA- several training workshops for governors in addition to organising Annual Governor Conference and governor forum.
To support my role as a governor, I am currently finishing Governance Leadership Programme. I have also attended several courses and training workshops such as safer recruitment, Safeguarding, Child protection, Data analysis, Risk Management, Assessment and Evaluation, Extremism and Prevent, Pupil Premium, eSafety and Equality and inclusion.
